8-day Wildebeest Migration Wildlife Safari Serengeti

Overview:

This 8 days Wildebeest Migration Calving Season safari includes visit to Ndutu area which is a transitional border between northern Ngorongoro and southern Serengeti where you will witness the birth of up to 8000 calves a day during this magic time for the great Wildebeest Migration. Although our safari is designed for calving season when the massive herds of wildebeest arrive in Southern Serengeti during the month of December, January, February and March, but you will as well visits the famous Serengeti National Park and Ngorongoro Crater which offers spectacular time to witness great games roaming in the wild.

Day 1: Arusha

Meet at Kilimanjaro airport or Arusha airport, after meet and greet you will be transfer to Arusha town,

Overnight at Mount Meru Hotel or similar–BB

Day 2: Arusha – Ndutu Area

Pick up from Arusha in the morning and drive to Ndutu area arriving in time for check in and lunch at your lodge. Afternoon embark on your very first Game drive in the vast plain of Ndutu coloured by unnumbered wildebeests followed by Zebras and gazelles and stalked by hungry predators

Day 3 & 4: Ndutu Area

As the sun rises you will leave your lodge for an early morning game viewing and return in the late morning to a leisurely African breakfast.  Thereafter you will proceed on with Game drive in the Ndutu plains which is the most famous ground in the world and it is here where the biggest mammals’ migration in the world drop their calves in a synchronized birthing to more than 400,000 calves with approximation of 8,000 calves born per day during the peak in the middle of February. 

Add on experience at Ndutu area – If you want to experience uninterrupted views of wilderbeests migrations from the sky you may choose to book a hot air balloon ride, followed by a luxurious champagne breakfast. This activity is optional and seats need to be reserved in advance.

Day 5: Ndutu – Serengeti National Park

After breakfast, collect packed lunch drive to Serengeti National Park, unquestionably the best wildlife sanctuary in the world and a World Heritage Site astounding 14,763 sq kms full of wild paradise. The park is most famous for its annual migration of wildebeests and zebras and the Big Five population. Enjoy and cherish your first afternoon game drive in the Serengeti National Park to view the “Big Five” and other uncountable resident wildlife

Day 6: Serengeti National Park

After breakfast, drive for full day game drives in the Serengeti National park, Tanzania’s best and most scenic game park in the world. Serengeti has a flourishing, permanent population of plains game which increases in year round by the migration of more than two million gnus and zebras which roams in the vast Serengeti plains about 10months year before cross ecological boarder to Masai Mara. The “big five,” elephant, buffalo, lion, and leopard are quite common. When the migration is quiet, the Serengeti offers the most brilliant game-viewing in Africa: great herds of buffalo, groups of elephant and giraffe, eland, topi, Kongoni, warthogs cheetah, impala, Grant’s gazelle and maned lion prides feast on the abundance of plenty grazers and browsers.

Day 7: Ngorongoro Crater

After breakfast, you will collect packed lunch and drive to Ngorongoro conservation area, a UNESCO World Heritage site for crater tour. The largest inactive caldera in the world (260 square kilometres), sunken or collapsed cone of volcano nowadays hosts the most unique ecosystem on Earth with more than 20,000 large grazing mammals and the largest concentration of predators on earth playing important part in the maintenance of the nature balance. Your experience will start by descending 2000 feet (over 600 metres) to the floor of the caldera to explore the Lerai forest inhabited by monkeys and huge elephant families, the lake area, where you may see the flamingos, the open savannah to sport many predators probably hunting to make their kill.

Wildly beautiful as it is, not surprisingly that Ngorongoro Crater has been called The Real Garden of Eden located in 2018 by American Biblical Archaeologist Stan Deyo. In the evening drive to Karatu area
