With over 125 milion inhabitants it is the eleventh most populous country in the world, as well as one of the most densely populated.

Central Asia stretches from east to west between western China and Mongolia to the Caspian Sea, from north to south between Russia to Afghanistan and Iran. 

Central Asia is tied to the Silk Road trade routes, acting as crossroads between Europe and the Far East.

As countries in Central Asia are landlocked, temperature fluctuations are extreme. There is little rainfall, so the climate is considered arid to semi-arid. 

Over 90 million people live in Central Asia.  This makes up around 2% of Asia’s population, but with a reasonably low population density.

South Asia is the southern most part of Asia. South Asia consists of the countries Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka.

It is dominated by the Indian subcontinent and surrounded by the Indian Ocean in the south, and the Himalayas, Karakoram, and Pamir mountains in the north. The Amu Darya, forms a part of the northwestern border. Nepal is a well-known country in the South of Asia. Officially called the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal, it is a landlocked country situated in the Himalayas, for what it is best known. Nepal is bordered by China in the north and India in the south. Kathmandu is Nepal’s capital and is the largest city.

Mount Everest can be found in Nepal along with 7 other of the world’s tallest mountains.

Nepal is about 800 kms long by 200 kms wide. It is believed to have started forming around 75 million years ago. It is also believed the Indian continental crust forced its way under Eurasia lifting it up to for the Himalayas.

There are a wide range of things to do in Nepal, obviously including climbing Mount Everest for the hardened few.

But for the less brave there are a wide range of smaller, less dangerous treks you can go on. There are caves that can be explored, sky diving, bungee jumping, rafting, kayaking, biking, and a whole lot more.

The provincial capital, Denpasar, is the most populous in the Lesser Sunda Islands and the second-largest. The town of Ubud in Greater Denpasar is considered Bali’s cultural centre. The province is Indonesia’s main tourist destination.

Vietnam, located east of Laos and Cambodia, and south of China, is as narrow as 50 kilometres across, though it widens to around 600 kilometres in the north. Consisting mostly of hilly and densely forested land, with mountains make up about 40% of the land area and tropical forests covering around 42%. The Red River Delta is found in the north, with the Mekong River Delta in the south. The delta, covering about 40,000 square km, is a low-level plain no more than 3 metres above sea level at any point.

The Hoàng Liên Sơn mountain range,  includes Fansipan which is the highest summit. The country has numerous islands of which Phú Quốc is the largest. The Hang Sơn Đoòng Cave is considered the largest known cave passage in the world. The Ba Bể Lake and Mekong River are the largest lake and longest river in the country.

Temperatures vary less in the southern plains around Ho Chi Minh City and the Mekong Delta, ranging from between 21 and 35 °C over the year. In Hanoi and the surrounding areas of Red River Delta, the temperatures are much lower between 15 and 33 °C. During winter, snow occasionally falls over the highest peaks of the far northern mountains near the Chinese border.

Vietnam receives high rates of precipitation in the form of rainfall with an average amount from 1,500 mm to 2,000 mm during the monsoon seasons; this often causes flooding.
